Every solid-wood piece begins with a story of love for the material, respect and a great deal of patience.

Local wood with a story of its own

We work with locally sourced hardwood that has fallen naturally through wind or storms. No tree is felled specifically to make our creations.

Years, not weeks

Hardwood dries very slowly, and we never force the process. The timber is air-dried naturally in well-ventilated conditions with carefully managed natural light, usually for two to three years — and sometimes longer for larger trunks.

Once sufficiently seasoned, it is cut into planks and allowed to dry further. The planks are regularly turned and checked with moisture meters until they reach approximately 6–8% moisture content.

Letting the wood guide the creation

Only then do we choose the sections best suited to each object, working with the natural knots, markings and irregularities that give every piece its individual character.

After cutting, the wood is allowed to stabilise for several more months. It is then progressively sanded through increasingly fine grades, revealing the softness and natural beauty of its surface.

Protection without suffocation

A breathable protective treatment is applied to help the wood regulate moisture while still allowing it to behave naturally.

Engraving comes close to the end. Because laser engraving uses heat, this stage is carefully controlled to avoid locally drying or distorting the wood. The finished creation is then sealed with a durable French-made varnish designed for solid-hardwood kitchen worktops and suitable for surfaces that may come into contact with food.

The finished object may appear simple, but the wood from which it is made has often been prepared, dried and cared for over several years before it reaches you. Every grain, shade and marking tells part of that journey — and makes your creation genuinely unique.
